Black SPOT / ČRNA PEGA

audiovisual installation

Black spot, originally Črna Pega, is an audiovisual installation that places the individual (the viewer) in a continuous, interactive relationship, positioning them as an essential component of the work. At the same time, the participant is in constant dialogue with themselves, standing before a circular mirror that reflects their face.

Around this mirrored image, a visual work (video) is projected, guiding the viewer through different segments and states with the aid of sound. The reflection of their own image allows the participant to observe their experience and their responses to various audiovisual stimuli, while continuously encouraging self-awareness.

Simultaneously, the interplay of shapes, light, and sound creates a dynamic oscillation between the centralization and decentralization of the participant within the experience. In essence, the installation seeks to reinterpret the surrounding environment and life experiences, translating them through sound and image.

The artist’s intention is to raise awareness of the individual’s perception of truth and their influence on the environment.

The work was first presented in the artist’s solo exhibition in April 2021 at Salsaverde Gallery in Izola, Slovenia. Later, in July 2021, it was included in the collective exhibition “Pop Up UM” at Warehouse Libertas in Koper.
